As a follow-up to a great story, it didn't hold up. The story was very straight forward and I waited the entire game for a twist that never happened. The lesson in this game is "forgiveness" and "be better" but it is executed poorly.

The gameplay is pretty much identical to the previous game; not that great and gets boring after a while.

The game is however visually stunning.

Things I disliked about the game:

Odin is described as a mastermind but he literally did nothing. He disguised himself as Tyr so he had intel on everything, yet this didn't lead to anything. The armies still stormed Asgard and Odin did nothing about it.

Don't get me started on Thor. He helped Atreus because Odin told him to. Later Sif convinced Thor to kill Atreus because his involvement with the death of their sons. The next time we see Sif, she's helping Atreus and she's forgiven both him and Kratos. What is this narrative?!

Getting the help of Ragnarok was also pointless. He didn't really help, rather the opposite since he got Freyr killed.

And then there's the whole prophecy of Kratos dying. This didn't happen either. Literally every prophecy of the giants happened, but not this one. Why? Was it to trick the gods? But they didn't even know about it. And Angrboda certainly believed it as well.

Then there's the thing about the mask. It didn't lead anywhere either. It might be a set up for a sequel but currently it feels like the devs didn't know what they wanted to do with Atreus' storyline so they went with this.

A rant about every nonsense in the game, and not just the lack of twists. But still, the story and gameplay is not worthy of the buildup the first game delivered. I was expecting Kratos to kill Thor, and then Odin laughing at Kratos for not being able to lift the Mjolnir, only to witness Kratos actually being worthy of lifting it and then he can use it as a weapon during gameplay. But no, Thor just threw it away.

This game was honestly full of disappointments. A great start, then not much happened for 17 hours (a couple of reused boss fights and some story bits), then the final battle which ended with two disappointing battles with Thor and Odin.
