Yeesh, what a mess of a visual novel - I truely don't know how to rate this. There are parts that are really good, there are good ideas, but G-Senjou can't help but shit itself fairly often. Truely the American Horror Story of Visual Novels

I think this G-Senjou is a prime example of how common visual novel tropes can really drag the medium down. For example, this is a thriller mystery formatted like a slice of life dating sim, in that you have 5 chapters total. Each chapter has a general plot that ties into the overall story, and ends with the player given a choice, as to whether they want to pursue a specific girl or not. If you do, you're then locked into her route before moving onto the next chapter. It's really weird as well because the girls then sorta disappear as the next chapter focuses on someone else - this is especially jarring with Tsubaki who plays such a major role in chapter 1 (and I would say is one of the most compelling characters), before fading into the background for the rest of the story

The cat and mouse/Death Note-esque mind games stuff is really good but like many visual novels, the story has stop itself constantly to do slice of life stuff so the pacing ends up feeling wonky, especially since not many of the characters are intended to be likeable (another perverted best friend character as well zzzz)

And also don't get me started on That controversial twist towards the end that every discussion. I will say though, the last few hours of the VN after that are...kinda enjoyable? The epilogue was also pretty good and definitely helped my enjoyment

So yeah, not amazing, not terrible, not sure why it's in VNDB's top 50
