A JRPG classic, one of the best of all time. It was revolutionary at the time for what it was released on. It has one of the coolest and most memorable cast of characters I've seen, and one of the most recognizable in gaming. I like how they made the turn-based combat exciting by making it fast-paced and real-time. The story is wild and very interesting. From Jenovah, to the origins of Mako, to Materia, to Sephiroth's beginnings, to Shinra, and so on. Also, a world that combines swords with guns with magic? The game is genreless, you can say sci-fi, you can say fantasy, you can say cyberpunk, and more, probably because it's all of those at once. The one thing holding me back from calling it flawless are the funny polygonal graphics, which made me put off playing this game for so long and did indeed take away a bit of the experience from me while playing it as well. It's not the game's fault at all, being a product of its time where games were transitioning from mostly 2D to 3D, but since times change the standards change as well, and for me the polygonal art style does not hold up. Overall, this is a really good game though. A very memorable experience.
