2nd playthrough and my thoughts are virtually the same. I think this game is solid but it's not all that impressive. It's one of the easiest games even on hard mode which hurts it a bit for me. It's got a good cast of main characters but I feel like it's side characters don't quite stick to my memory compared to every other game in the series. The story is also just, alright in my opinion. Lyon and the royals carry it quite a bit. It has the best class system and mechanics from the GBA games but that only helps it a little. I was crazy enough to complete the post game and get all the secret characters which was honestly pretty underwhelming. Overall not a bad game, it's just alright.
