Sad to see that action games have recently joined STGs in trapping themselves in a dead-end game design template that they're unable to iterate upon in any meaningful way. Only managing (somewhat) to break free from the template when it comes to sequels for franchises running long prior to the current era of sanitization or some other memberberry-drenched indieshit.
