There's not a lot that can be said about this game's story that isn't a spoiler in some sense. It much more of a visual novel than it is a RTS. Thankfully the story is much more compelling than the game play itself. The game doesn't overstay its welcome, clocked in a nice ~37 hours to finish the game, with more end game content to go through.
