I'm always up for a nautical game. I love the esthetics of traversing water and salty sea tales. This was a good game that scratched that itch, but unfortunately I've played other seafaring games that did what this game did but better. This game couldn't decide between being spooky or being cozy, and I don't think combining those feelings worked for me. I guess I prefer committing to one or the other; with this game I felt both of those elements were clashing with each other.

The story was a little all over the place and the writing was just okay. The spooky elements were fine, but I think if I want a better written spooky salty sea tales I much prefer Sunless Sea. And for the cozy elements, Spiritfarer did a better job and was also better written.

The gameplay mainly consisted of traversing waters and collecting things. Which was fine, though I would've liked a bit more diversity in the puzzles.

Overall though I understand the appeal of the game. I did enjoy it but I was also happy to end it when I did.
