Doom 2016 does a fantastic job revitalizing the series and bringing it into the modern era. It has very fun and satisfying FPS combat, the enemies are all modernized in a way that allows them to retain their classic 90s charm while still being intense and monstrous. The weapon balance is a bit off, the Super Shotgun is kind of overpowered and discourages quickly switching between weapons, and the game's environments all blend in together visually. Everything's red and orange, and the environments aren't really varied. Otherwise, it's a great game.
