Forcing me to do sidequests is lame, dialogue was just as awkward as in the base game and none of the new characters introduced were interesting in the slightest (Lora and Addam were okay). I liked the switch up of the gameplay.

Yeah I was mostly getting this done just to get it over with. The best villain of XC2 is Gort at the end. Best dialogue and actually managed to unsettle me unlike any other villain in the game.
