It's not-Touhou yeah but like it's really damn good. The music-gameplay synchronization is pretty top-notch, like how the stage 3 boss' attacks release 3 waves when the music goes DUN DUN DUN. there are lots of smaller examples like this, and they're all over the game. The single best song is called Shadows Riding in the Forest, the Stage 2 theme, and it's an absolute jam.
Main critique is unlocking things is entirely tied to the money system which turns things into a grind if you want everything. Even the assist mode is tied to this for some reason. You know, to help the people having trouble?
At the end of the day it's Not-Touhou yeah, but it's earned its place with its fun gameplay and great soundtrack.
