Shredded Secrets goes into the lives of people that seem like they're something on the outside but by getting help and confronting ones demons, they can come out happier and better people for it.

Graphically it's nothing remarkable, there are even recolors of playable characters which is really jarring when you're playing as them. The platforming can be a little off since the edges are actually slopes despite graphically being flat terrain, and don't get me started on the jank that is ladders.

The story is pretty played out at this point and as a teacher I feel like it's a very idealized version and resolution of all these respective situations, but I that's fine in a game about self-betterment. There are no unique narrative spins, but it is well implemented in gameplay. A nice shoutout to them making a shmup and all assets for it just for one level even if the hardcore in me is a little disappointed there wasn't a boss, but my favorite moment was one instance where I was unable to complete the previous level or fight back and so on.

Unfortunately it doesn't always succeed in what it sets out to do as I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to feel bad about bullying people to hide Oakley's insecurities but I'm sorry it's impossible to not feel joy and laugher at firing a hadouken with FAT on it at someone. Oakley also gets this bizarre moment that never comes back and it was pretty good.

I enjoyed it and despite its flaws it's worth the like 45 minutes it takes to play. Sometimes things aren't always what they seem from your perspective, so since the game is so short give it a shot and share your own thoughts.
