A great game that's only held back by how hard it can be, but an experienced Mega Man player can make it through most of the game no harm no F.O.W.L., even if some bosses like Molinator or Steelbeak can be bullshit. The only other difficulty complaints I have are the enemies are too reliant on armor or only being vulnerable on the head and Darkwing himself only having 4 HP which is comically less than the Blue Bomber.

That said, I love what's on display here and Capcom gave full respect to this series that aired while I was too in diapers to actually watch it. The gorgeous NES animations of Darkwing, how he has unique reactions based on what element hit him, and the music good lord the music, it's great. I also enjoy the mechanics that come with Darkwing being able to hang off various ledges, even if they could have done more with it. Unfortunately the game is a little short at only 7 stages, compared to the 12 a game of this type normally has, but that's the licensed game blues for you.

This is one of the weaker Mega Man games on the NES, but that's not such a bad title to hold.
