At the start of this game I wasn’t feeling it as much as the first and was honestly a little disappointed. The gunplay in 2 doesn’t feel nearly as good as in the Legendary Edition version of 1 so I was already a little off put but at first the game felt like it was going to push into direction that I wasn’t happy with boring action set pieces and characters that were blander than anything in the first game, but then after the opening couple hours of set piece was over and I came to grips with the combat, they introduced/reintroduced characters that I fell in love with and at around the 5 hour mark I realized exactly why people love this game so much and I’m glad to say that I am now one of those people. Even if the overarching story isn’t the most impactful, the characters (minus Jacob) are so well written and realized that I started to care for people I hated at the beginning. Seeing what Garrus had become and actually getting to see the Quarian fleet with Tali (even if her reasons for going back aren’t under the best of terms) we’re some genuinely great moments that most games wish they could match.
