This is the 5th game in the Gunvolt series, and it is the best one. Kirin's gameplay feels like the perfect melding of Gunvolt's and Copen's, and the unlockable second mode is even better. Fetters + Arc Chain gives a really good gameplay loop.

The pitfalls of the series are still there. It still puts way too much importance on a C-tier plot, the characters talk constantly, (literally) getting in the way of the action, and there are so many flashing lights on the screen that it can be tough to determine what's actually happening. That is to say, it's nowhere near the level of Mega Man Zero/ZX. But for what it is, it's the best the Gunvolt Series has ever been.
