You've really got to hand it to Atlus and Koei Tecmo, they accomplished something absolutely incredible with Persona 5 Strikers: they made what is quite possibly my least favourite game ever.

Some genius walked into a room and made this pitch to the boardroom: "what if we took Persona 5, an already messily-written game with no idea what it wants its message to be and characters that have a total of three personality traits combined, put them in a worse-written game, and made the already-shallow characters basically just parodies of themselves. Oh and also it's a musou. Except it's not a musou, it's Devil May Cry... except it's still Dynasty Warriors-y. Also it needs the RPG and loose stealth elements that Persona 5 had." And somehow this idea - if you can even call it an 'idea' - got greenlit and made.

In a sense, it really is a worthy successor to Persona 5 in that it also has zero idea what it wants to be or what it wants to say.

Persona 5 Strikers is a complete waste of time and was a complete waste of resources at both Atlus and Koei Tecmo. Both companies have [fairly recently] proven that they can make great games, but this is definitely nowhere near even the 'decent' camp.

If you want a good musou, play Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada. If you want more Persona, play Persona 4 Golden. If you want more Persona 5... what's wrong with you?

Also the camera sucks. That doesn't help anything.

for clarification: it's obvious what Persona 5's message wants to be because it keeps yelling over and over about "adults bad". The problem I have with Persona 5 is that they want to be like "society sucks" yet at the same time they seem actually afraid to go into the topic in any meaningful way. The intent behind the writing contradicts the actions actually taken throughout the game; really the first Palace plays with that theme best and even then I don't think it does so well at all imo.

I can't imagine not understanding the message of Persona 5, the game with one of the simplest and easiest to understand messages ever. Some people even criticize it for being so blatantly simple. That's nuts.

^ literally this. I met someone who didn't understand what the game was about at first, but at the end they thought it was very simple.
