I remember some people who really hated persona 5 harassing the folks who wanted it ported because that... interrupts other shin megami Tensei games or something??? I have no idea how porting one game impacts another and there was no sign of normal smt games stopping considering smt 4 wasn't that old. It probably took about as much time from smt 4 to 5 as Persona 4 to 5. I watched a video that was complaining about how TERRIBLE and OBNOXIOUS the persona fanbase is by saying that having social media campaigns to put the game on switch is a bad thing? I'm not even sure what the dude's problem was. Then he said that anyone has the power to buy a playstation 4 and play the game. I commented with the obvious "buying a several-hundred dollar video game console for a single game that you might not end up liking is a bad idea." Then a bunch of people started calling me a moron in the comments because the game is "tropey" and "has anime characters" which has nothing to do with what I was proposing. It gave me a hardy laugh but the people replying to my comment seem to take this very seriously for some reason. Like... they're still making the traditional Shin Megami Tensei games. Persona is more popular because more people like lighter stories with more grounded anime characters than more cerebral stories and very challenging rpg gameplay. I mean, one is obviously more approachable so no shit it sells better. Maybe I'm just stupid and not seeing what these people's problem is, tell me what I missing from this situation please. I'm sure plenty of players dislike persona 5 for completely legitimate reasons but these people in particular confuse me.

you can also tell that guy who made the video is gonna have a very unbiased perspective on the situation when his profile picture is his OC drawn as a shin megami tensei character. Christ, what a trip...

@HylianBran context is important to the "break free persona" thing cuz it was kind of obnoxious lol. This one guy in particular (forgot his name) would reply to like any altus tweet begging for the games to be ported, I especially remember this because he replied to Catherine full body on switch with "ok whatever, where's persona 5 on switch?" Which is annoying.
I'm sure this YouTuber you're talking about was some classic megaten elitist which is funny, they should grow up perhaps!

@Reddish oh gotcha, I don't go on Twitter so I didn't know it was on that level. The guy doing that should probably chill out, I hope he's happy now. This isn't related but damn I wish they would port the first two persona games along with the new ones. I've sampled both the psp and ps1 versions of the original and want to play it but there's no real way in English. The original localization was terrible and cut out half the content. The PSP version has a better translations and all the content but changes the menus and more importantly the fmvs and music, which completely changes the atmosphere to the point that the game feels entirely different. Watch this and then this and I rest my case. Then with persona 2 you'd either have to play a fan translation of one of the games if you wanted to play the duology on the same console which is fine for me but might be a nightmare for others. They could've rereleased them along with the persona 3 and 4 rereleases coming out and included options to have the original fmv and soundtrack for the first game. Better yet, they could include the original ROMs as an option with the new translations put into the game. That would satisfy everybody!
