This is the game that started it all. It’s a great start and a strong foundation for what’s to come (I assume). It’s worth giving a try to experience the story but it has plenty of rough edges that I hope will get ironed out with the sequels. Exploring, climbing and finding secrets is fun, sometimes the controls get in the way though. The game is also missing lots of quality of life options to make things more pleasant. For one, teleporting is there but it’s pretty bad. You have to go to the gates and it only gives you the option for a few areas. Fighting while simple, can be pretty enjoyable but also frustrating at times due to the controls or being put in wild situation. It can happen where you’re spotted and you end up fighting way too many guards, especially in the last 30% of the game. It’s harder to escape the further you are in the game. The fights themselves are not tough but just tedious and time consuming when you’re trying to do something else.

Again though, I’m still left impressed. I understand why AC became huge. It’s a reminder of how original Ubisoft games were. I love the setting and the story. I’m looking forward to giving AC2 a try.
