The game is quite outdated, especially noticeable in boss fights. However, as a survival horror, it still works even after so many years, slowly immersing the player in the mystery town and unknown environment. The sound design is made with the understanding of how to keep the player in tension: the further you go, the more uncomfortable it becomes to play.

Regarding the story and lore itself, I still love SH2 the most. It seems that when Team Silent made the first game, they didn't fully understand how the world was supposed to work, what events are canonical, and how people actually get into Silent Hill. But as a foundation and starting point, it's still one of the main elements of the series
