Beacon Pines is narrative-driven game presented in a choose-your-own-adventure style by piecing together a book as you progress through the game until you get the best ending. As you advance in the story you will discover charms that allow you to change the story path at certain points creating different stories and providing different endings.

The presentation is very unique and the game walks the line of being a cute animal kids joy adventure game and a creepy somewhat sinister tale of a misterious corporation running the town of Beacon Pines. Narration helps set the tone for the storytelling of the game and there are enough characters with very detailed art to make the game interesting. The story is strong for the most part, although the branching nature of the game can slow things down considerably when the story starts getting interesting.
