the first entry to the infamous 'Hobo' series is quite an interesting one. the game starts with a very striking intro cutscene, quite pleasing. with its simple gameplay, you can very clearly see influence coming from 'Streets of Rage' (1991) and 'Sonic The Hedgehog 2' (1992). pulling off various attacks and combos feels sharp; stunning enemies by spitting, barfing, sneezing, shitting, etc.; doing a variety of punches, kicks, and plunging into enemies to knock them down for a short period of time; and using beer bottles and trash cans to harm enemies. in a way, it also reminds me quite a bit of two of my favorite films: 'Taxi Driver' (1976), and 'La Haine' (1995). i hope the sequel to this game stars Robert De Niro.
