Its an alright game overall, but definitely more as preamble to later games rather than something worth playing on its own.

Combat is generally good, characters (especially Estelle and Joshua) are great, and the worldbuilding does a good job of setting up future events. While the plot for this game in particular is fairly mediocre, it was enough to keep me interested long enough to reach the second game.

Ultimately, this game only works as the first part of a series. If it were a standalone title, the score would be substantially worse. The saving grace here is that it sets the stage for much better games down the line and for that I'm willing to be lenient for the flaws on display.
