Its in a difficult position to judge. All of the component elements of the game are an improvement over the first. Some, like platforming, are only minor improvements while others, most notably combat, are substantial upgrades. But at the same time, the game shifts focus away from its strongest aspects (platforming) towards its relatively weaker ones (combat) which hurts the game in aggregate.

Ultimately, Will of the Wisps still had good stuff to offer, but its best aspects were those it shared with Blind Forest while new additions largely fell flat. It's still a good game overall but I have a moderate preference towards the first.
