A very fun playthrough of an interesting and unique game that starts to peter out a bit near the end.

Pros:
with the lower stakes I enjoy the characters in this game more than any other rockstar game. I'm not murdering 40 people in a mission i'm playing a minor prank.
The general loop of the day, early classes followed by missions afterwards
The reveal of the open world after the first intro chapter was really well done.
How nicely laid out the small open world is and how quickly i remembered where it all was.
The combat, while simple, works very well and much better than any other rockstar game
I just enjoyed everything more i guess. Its the standard rockstar formula but with minor changes and everything is done better.
Just fantastic music

Cons:
At least on windows it requires a fair amount of work to get it running properly. I had to install 4 mods to get it all running and a backend program to run the controller
Even with all the stability mods I still had one crash and a bug where jimmy would freeze in place until i paused and unpaused the game a random number of times to trigger the proper animation
The default setup for this game is terrible looking with this awful grey filter over the top of everything for some reason, a mild use of reshade fixed most of it though.
Animations wouldn't play right constantly, people floating above where they're supposed to be and arms/legs glitching out, etc.
Just some mechanics weren't fully fleshed out very well. the respect mechanic doesn't have anywhere to view the current meters and no way to effect it other than missions, which most are story related.

The game hits a point near the end where it feels like more was going to be in it but they ran out of dev time. Not as bad as something like vampire the masquerade bloodlines but its very obvious more was planned. The last area unlocked only has a handful of missions in it. Generally though much more than the sum of its parts.

Some way to see the school schedule would also be nice. i only had 2 classes not finished by the end and the chances they would pop up were very low.

I would reccommend still playing this game on pc. the 60fps/1080p is enough to recommend it. Just download the 4 or so patches and some xinput software might just not work with it though. You might even have to break out the old official wired xbox 360 controller but rewasd worked fine for me like it always does.

Mods used:
Bully Silent patch
upscaled pre rendered cutscenes
Extended draw distance
BullyFX, good starting point but i turned most effects off.

My Favorite Rockstar Game and also one in my list of "games never getting a sequel that i want"
8/10
