It is a The Last Of Us style game made by a studio with a much smaller budget. However, this game does quite a bit different to make itself not get completely overshadowed by The Last Of Us. The setting is 14th century France, during the Black Plague and the Inquisition, which is a cool setting for a video game. The gameplay is stealth focused since are, but children against an army of knights. You can kill the soldiers, but your only weapon is a sling which is loud and very slow. It also can't kill soldiers with helmets on, so the stealth gameplay is a refreshing take to the typical stealth game where the focus is usually on takedowns (Assassin's creed, Far cry, The Last Of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, etc. etc.). My only complaint with the gameplay is that it is often very scripted. Like the game clearly wants you to tackle certain obstacles in specific ways, leading to stealth which rarely feels improvisational. Occasionally the game gives you freedom to tackle obstacles in the way you want, but it is not frequent.

The story is quite cinematic and engaging. It isn't quite The Last of Us, but that's a pretty high bar. I like how Hugo actually acts like a child, and how Amicia acts like the older sister fed up with her dumb sibling, but still wants to protect him. It's pretty good writing. The main thing that kept me going though is the mystery as to why the Inquisition wanted Hugo so bad. I needed to know man. Really interested to see where they take the story in the sequel.

Oh also, the rat density in this game is off the charts.
