I honestly went into this expecting it be interesting but incredibly clunky, and in some respects it is, but I genuinely don't think the art direction and sound design on display here is something that can age. While I was somewhat desensitized to the sheer disgust and discomfort evoked by the look and feel of the nightmare world by the end of the game, its design is immaculately crafted to be the last place imaginable that I'd ever want to find myself. The first time you get through a dungeon and the sirens fade, leaving you to wake up in the "normal" world once again, light flooding in through the windows... god fucking damn that hits different
