Another North American launch title for the Turbografx-16 is Victory Run, a racing game in the style of Rad Racer and Outrun. Features a 4-gear manual transmission mechanic that’s a little tricky when you first get started, colorful graphics, and some insanely catchy music (especially in the first section of the course).
If you’ve played the recent pinball video game Demon’s Tilt you may be interested in the some of the games that inspired it. One of those games is Alien Crush, a launch title for the Turbografx-16 in North America.
Alien Crush is… well, what you are probably thinking it is. It’s a classic pinball game with alien/sci-fi themes. You know, skulls and xenomorphs and drippy things. The table features two playfields - an upper and lower level - and also several bonus screens. You can choose between fast or slow gameplay and two distinctly different audio tracks.
And it’s fine. It’s 2D pinball with a nifty theme and is dripping with style. Obviously digital pinball has advanced since the T-16 era, but this is still enjoyable to play unlike some other pinball efforts from the era.
