UGHHHH THIS GAME IS SO GOOD THIS REMAKE IS SO GOOD I LOVED IT SO MUCH I WOULD PLAY THIS EVERY DAY UNTIL I DIE THESE PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO MAKE A GAME!!! There were so many times throughout this game that I was like "wow this was an NES game. How did they do this on an NES" So I will be playing the NES game soon to discover how they did that on an NES. Just gushing with that good dragon quest feel and with a twist that I shant go into more detail on but I shit inside my pants! The tieback to dq1 is insane. The whole game is insane. It's also just so genuinely well designed in terms of level curve and encounters and pacing, thoroughly impressed !! I really only had to grind at two points and they were both just before major bosses. The party system is extremely fun!! I think everyone in the world should play this game!!

This game is really important to me as someone who wants to see pokemon become a truly great game series. It is, I think, the proof that it is possible.

First of all, Do Not play Pokemon Black or White without immediately after playing this game. This game recontextualizes everything in the first game in such a way that it makes Black and White truly good games.

I think that this game is so good, and simultaneously frustrating, to me because it is the proof that Pokemon not only has the ability to be good, but to develop as a franchise. This is the first and pretty much only time Game Freak made a game and then said "There was some good stuff in there. How can we expand on that." If they would have kept this momentum for the rest of the series we would see Pokemon become something much bigger and more impressive than it is now. Pokemon games have this huge issue where they have a successful release and then, rather than taking what was good from the first game and trying to do it again but bigger and better, they consistently just try to get another game with Other good stuff in it and it really sucks. I am not just referring to the gimmicks like mega evolution. It's hard to see Pokemon as a series as anything more than a series of disconnected games with the same monsters, the same mechanics, and the same story tropes because that's all it is ever

I threw out this review there because I'm tired but this game is an innovation that could have continued a snowball into greatness but then they decided to make Pokemon X and Y which are deeply stupid baby games and I will never forgive them for it. Play both gen 5 games it's worth it.
