Okay I actually finished it now.

What a good ass game! It really shows how perfect Resident Evil's transition from horror to action was when the game is 90% action and 10% horror and yet it still feels like it fits perfectly into the franchise. It feels, plays and looks like Resident Evil so I gotta disagree with the haters that say "this isn't Resident Evil!". I understand why some people didn't like it but I honestly think it being a 12-hour long bombastic adrenaline rush is exactly what makes it special in comparison to the other games in the series, plus it's a genuinely well crafted and exciting game with loads of incredible set pieces that capture the brilliance that made the previous game so good in the first place. It's definitely not as good as RE4 but it takes the elements established by that game to create something even more energetic and over-the-top, it's a really great sequel to RE4.

Apart from Sheva's A.I. being a bit of a dumbass, I loved this game a lot and nowadays — in an era where most AAAs are always trying to be these impressive, deep, cinematic experiences — it kinda makes me miss the sillier and more straightforward action games like this.

Also, is it just me or there are some pieces of music in this game that sound like they came straight out of something like Star Wars? Like... seriously, at times it feels like if John Williams made a horror-themed score for Star Wars. It's like the composers saw the final battle with Wesker inside a volcano and said "Oh, it's like Revenge of the Sith" and just went fucking hard on the music (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65xX2jERqFw&list=PL054B5FACD266BF0F&index=21). It's insane, and I liked it, lol. A very memorable OST.
