Probably one of the nicer ways to spend lockdown. Building up my town and shaping it into my own little paradise with my friends is one of the most blissful gaming experiences I've had with my Switch.

It certainly lacks some of the depth of social activity found in the previous games, as well as the bite some villagers had, but the amount of facilitation of individual creativity helps to define this entry as its own experience.

The feeling of slowly turning a peaceful, untamed island into a bustling, perfectly curated town bursting with villagers and buildings is extremely satisfying, especially seeing how it plays out over days or months of real time. Short bursts per day are the optimal way to experience this game; short, comforting sips of island life to help soothe the daily woes.

While I wish it had taken control out of the players hands more often, I can't help but I also admit it was exactly what the world needed at the time and I enjoyed my many hours immensely.
