Mafia

2002

This, next to Gothic 1 and 2, is the defining video game of my childhood. The amount of hours I've spent free-roaming during missions is ridiculous.

The gameplay is excellent, although the difficulty is ridiculously high. The shootouts are killer, and you have to be painfully careful. Same with driving - it's slow and REALLY heavy.

The police in this game is absolutely unforgiving and insanely hard to deal with, but I can't help but love it in the end. There's something so scary about even simply driving in this game, knowing you could start hearing the horrifying police siren sound at any time.

The missions are all memorable and different. The characters are literally flawless, and the story is top-tier. The last hour of the game is absolute cinema, and the ending is one of my all-time favorites.

For a game this damn old, it's one unbelievable experience. The overall difficulty is the only thing I'd say is the flaw. Mafia is an insanely memorable experience, and I absolutely love it. - 🕘
