Dragon Quest V certainly has its faults. Battles can be incredibly tedious, especially as the encounter rate is a step too high, and there are some pacing issues that sometimes feel pretty glaring.

But this game also has a boatload of charm and love.

And the sprawling and daring story of the game that spans multiple generations and plot lines is truly a sight to behold that deserves to be commended.

I have never seen something quite like it, similar to the ensemble cast storytelling that can be found in Final Fantasy VI.
And it captured me in quite the similar way.

My favorite game in the series though I've only played a few.
