As a single-player experience... I think I actually prefer this over the 2nd game. 1 is smaller, more-streamlined and generally better paced and doesn't force you to try a million different weapons, instead just choosing to familiarise you with the basics. It's really fun! Although I like 2's approach to the story mode too, I appreciate the snapiness of 1 just that little bit more, and I had a blast of an afternoon running through it in anticipation for 3.
