This game isn't ambitious, but it is extremely polished and has a ton of great levels. Every time I revisit the game I'm struck by how solid the level design is. Levels are well paced, built around really clean and well constructed mechanics, and have a lot of personality and flavor. There's also a lot in the way of new power ups and such that stand up as some of the best in the franchise. Squirrel suit for instance? Top tier! Great baby Yoshis too. Top notch Mario game, even if it is basic.
