I played the Dread X Collection version of Sucker for Love: First Date, which is available on Steam for free as Sucker for Love: Prelude as basically a large demo for First Date. If you enjoy that freebie, you'll probably have a fun time with First Date, too, but don't expect to get too much more from the full thing.

Sucker for Love: First Date is some more of the same, which I think is pretty good stuff: basically a brief visual novel built upon a humorous premise of "What if someone wanted to hook up with an Eldritch being?" That question gets answered here and even offers you some choices, though they're basically just choosing which game over screen you'd like to see. If you'd like to see it all, there's a flowchart of checkpoints to help you see all of the game over screens and their accompanying dialogue changes more easily, which is appreciated.

There are three chapters, each with their own "date". Sucker for Love: Prelude is basically the first chapter of the game (and again, it's free, and I believe worth checking out). The second chapter unlocks after completing the first, and the third chapter is unlocked by finding three secrets spread across the previous two. In terms of variety, I'd say the second chapter is basically the first again with a few more ending options. Once you see what this game offers, you'll see its scope is pretty limited. Not necessarily a bad thing, the key is making the most with what you've got, and I think they succeeded.

My favorite was probably the third chapter because it offers the most "gameplay". Unlike the previous chapters, there's an element of danger and I think it utilizes the medium the most. I think it was definitely worth trying this out just for that third chapter, though it was also the shortest by far. There's another Sucker for Love game coming soon but honestly, unless it has vastly changed some mechanics, this game does everything you can do with this approach.

I recommend Sucker for Love: First Date and suggest you try Sucker for Love: Prelude to see if you agree with me or not.
