Having played this immediately after a lukewarm replay of The Last of Us 2, this game helped seal what it is I like about video games. It has arcade-like elements, doesn't take itself too seriously, incentivizes and rewards exploration, and is just overall fun and atmospheric.

The environment was the highlight of the game for me, as was the sound design. The blue lighting in House Beneviento after the boss fight with the wind howling against the windows in an empty setting that you can now explore in peace reminded me of the school in Silent Hill 1, where upon beating the boss you were met with a peaceful yet eerie version of the horror you just went through without any enemies.

The concept art and 3d figures being your reward for beating the game, aside from new weapons and upgrades, is a truly satisfying bonus for completing the game.

Better than RE7 in almost every way.
