Yeah, I don't know about this one. I enjoyed 6 and 7 more than 8-- and while it is the climatic conclusion to the trilogy in tone, the game is much, much easier than the first two (to its detriment). I steamrolled through the game without using continues on my second try. The solid base gameplay is still there and there are some very good boss fights, but it's worse. I'm also not crazy about (most of) the music in this one, which is a pretty important part of Touhou being made by a musician. Imperishable Night is still decent but a weak end to the trilogy of the first Windows Era.

IN's OST mogs PCB and EOSD imo. Also what difficulty did you play on? If it's too easy, you can always go up.

I consider these games complete once I 1cc them on Normal. It's being compared to EoSD and PCB in that aspect. I also beat IN and PCB's extra (not Phantasm, will get to it later) stage, which was excellent in both (improving my opinion of them) but I haven't mentioned that in any of my Touhou writeups.

I get it's for comparison sake, but if you aren't enjoying the game (in a vacuum) as much because it's too easy, why not increase the difficulty? I found it too easy on Normal at first, but Hard mode was a lot more challenging while still being manageable for someone at my skill level.

Unrelated and you might already know this but if you don't feel like capturing all those spellcards to unlock Phantasm in PCB, you always use the full unlock code. Same goes for the bonus Last Spell cards in IN.
