Aside from giving me my online sona in the form of a novakid (seriously, I really like those sparkly little guys and gals), this game isn't really all that special. Got some pretty pixel art, interesting space-magic combat mechanics, and some unique species designs, but that's about it. I only rated it so highly when I first signed up for Backloggd because it made up the majority of my pre-teen years.

After having played the entire Mass Effect trilogy for the first time and also having been a Terraria player, this game feels like it tries to be both and succeeds at neither. The story is saccharine, yet unsatisfying, the characters are only vaguely interesting, and the combat, while fine, is pretty uninspired. I was there during the beta, and lots of interesting lore got scrapped; with the Glitch backstory potentially involving their creators, The Avian backstory involving the PC being an apostate of their backwards, regressive theocracy, but no, that all got ground into the snoozefest that is the launch story.

Oh, and there's also the fact that Chucklefish stole from their interns during the making of this game, with numerous people left uncredited. Nice going, Chucklefish. Dickheads.
