I still haven't beaten Hades in its entirety (the final boss pulls no punches), though I'd still consider it one of my favorites. Objectively speaking, I might call it the best indie game of all time. It's a joy to play, it looks gorgeous both in its world and especially in its characters, and its story takes a pantheon many of us are deeply familiar with and uses it in fresh new ways for a tale of perseverance.

While many will critique it for relying heavily on meta progression, there's a time and place for everything, and I think here it does a wonderful job. This is a great game for players unfamiliar with the roguelike/roguelite genre, it's generous with upgrades and dying never feels frustrating.

Can't fucking WAIT for its sequel.
