Light on plot with silly characters and cheesy dialogue, but that's not entirely out of place given the action movie vibe they're going for.

Solid worldbuilding though, and RGG Studio does have a flair for cinematic cutscenes. I especially like the pair of Japanese cops; they're so much more grounded compared to the cartoony team of gaijin soldiers.

Good graphics for a PS3 game, with some great set pieces. Some of the boss battles feel like an Earth Defense Force game, in a good way.

Unfortunately, the voice recognition is not great (I didn't even bother with it), and the game is occasionally frustrating even on easy difficulty. They take camera control away from the player too often, which is good for cinematic effect but really annoying in practice, and I hate how often your character can get staggered, taking control away from the player and shaking the camera around.
