I haven't been looking forward to reviewing the Playstation Mega Man X games. I've mentioned this several times already, but for whatever reason I have almost zero object permanence with these things. It doesn't help that I played them back-to-back, but you've probably heard me say that before, too. Old ground, all of this. But that's ok, I'm not really good at writing reviews and so at the very least this saves you from having to wade through an absurd amount of words that ultimately don't say anything. Efficiency is the name of the game here. I'm gonna speedrun this review.

It's more Mega Man X, but this time it's on the Play Station One, which means better looking sprite art and smoother gameplay. Not a fan of how the backgrounds look. They have this sort of "we imported a drawing" quality to them that is a bit at odds with how detailed the rest of the spritework is and I just find them kinda ugly. But, hey, you're not here to look at the backgrounds. You're here to shoot robots directly in face, steal their powers, then get excited to murder the next robot. You can still find Dr. Light holograms to upgrade X, and cutscenes still have a melodramatic tone entirely unfitting for Mega Man, but that makes them a whole lot more funny and I like it.

Nothing else to say here. My vague recollection of the series at this point is that they were just putting out consistently good versions of the same kind of game with a few new gimmicks and additions with each release, kinda like the original series. If it ain't broke, or something like that. Although don't worry, they'll break it eventually...
