I've been slowly making my way through the 'music/rhythm' genre of games, and this might be my least favorite in terms of story mode.
The song list is fine, the LEGO skin is cool, and you get the LEGO humor that you expect with that. However, the "padding/grind" doesn't feel necessary if you want to just advance through the story. If I'm not mistaken, in Guitar Hero 1 and 2 each new venue would present new songs which would have to be played through once to unlock the next venue. With this game, some venues will present you some new songs (great!), but then you'll need to play songs you've already played to earn enough stars to unlock the next vehicle/venue.
And as much as I enjoy some of the songs in the game, you can only play them so many times before you start losing your enjoyment in them. Even with the option to choose the songs you want to play to earn those additional stars, overall it just dragged on.
