Plays with space and time in effortlessly charming ways, asking you both to observe a character's growth and shape that growth directly. There is real beauty to the way the game makes moving in with your boyfriend a painful, exhausting chore - nothing matched the anger I felt when I discovered I could only hang my degree up in the bathroom, except for the anger I felt when I discovered he wouldn't even let me put it up there - and then, a few years later, putting you in a position where you have to consciously transform your individual space into a shared space. Great stuff.

BORN TO RIDE / WORLD IS A BABY PARK / Kill Em All 1989 / I am baby luigi / 410,757,864,530 DEAD MARIOS

Chafed against the uninspired level design and the snail-slow evolution of your combat encounters, and got incredibly frustrated with the sluggish, temperamental camera and controls whenever you Charge. Feels like a forgettable Saturday morning cartoon in which the camera just suddenly tilts off to the side at inconvenient times. Lives purely on the occasional lightning-strike puzzle, and the base impulse of collecting every gem and dragon egg. And even then, nothing could make me go back and 100% the flying levels.
