This is a good one. It's a well-done remake. Though it improves every aspect of the original, in some areas, I would've preferred to keep things as they were.
I preferred the silent hero in the original cause it made everything feel much more void-like, lonely and desperate and I was disappointed that in the remake, they cleaned up the sound design in chapters 5 or 6, where the player encounters an engine or machine section with super noisy, loud and metallic sounds almost like a Merzbow (Japanese noise artist). Also, the overall game pace is increased and it's close to the second game rather than the super slow original.
But these are just my personal picks, which might not work for others, so I can't say it's bad. It's just my personal opinion.
Overall - the visuals are good, though it's a shame that there is no ray tracing on ps5, the sound design is superb, pacing and game design - it's all there.
If I turn off my internal dead space 1 comparison, I'd say it's one of the best remakes I've seen recently. It's not improved that drastically as RE2 Remake cause the original game holds up well even today(I played 1 year ago), but it's still a super solid game. Good job!
Would love to see ds2 remake but with more improvements and maybe going even further with new ideas.
