Back before the two-screen theater was a 99 cent store and the Chilis nearby was a mexican restaurant called Acapulco, on lucky days where we'd go eat fajitas and watch a movie, they had a row of arcade cabinets and this was one of the three games they always had. The animation of the man turning into the monkey is burned into my mind. When I went back decades later to some of those games, I found a lot of them to be larger in my mind than reality, but not Toki. That doesn't mean Toki is great, but it's fun to remember something exactly correctly.
