The hero of the game is a young jungle-man named Toki. One day the evil wizard Dr. Stark kidnaps his girlfriend Wanda. When Toki tries to save her, he is turned into a monkey! Now Toki has to find Dr. Stark in his palace, rescue Wanda, and become a human being again!

It's a decent action platformer, but man I hate the aesthetics.

Joguei muito quando criança mas só consegui terminar depois de adulto. É um bom jogo. Seu nível de dificuldade não chega nem aos pés dos jogos difíceis do Nes, mas vai dar um pouco de trabalho pra quem quiser enfrentá-lo.

Another arcade classic, a bit unfair with traps that were unavoidable unless you knew the game by heart.
Back before the two-screen theater was a 99 cent store and the Chilis nearby was a mexican restaurant called Acapulco, on lucky days where we'd go eat fajitas and watch a movie, they had a row of arcade cabinets and this was one of the three games they always had. The animation of the man turning into the monkey is burned into my mind. When I went back decades later to some of those games, I found a lot of them to be larger in my mind than reality, but not Toki. That doesn't mean Toki is great, but it's fun to remember something exactly correctly.
