After doing Pokemon Yellow with my brothers, as one wants to re discover all the Pokemon games, we now took on Crystal. It’s a fun game with interesting mechanic changes as well as the new typings. It definitely feels like an add on sequel to RBY which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it does make Johto feel less realised than it could have been. More importantly, this game has two regions which, although Kanto is smaller than it was, still hits super strongly for nostalgia. There is a huge level balancing issue the game has though. The elite four not being stronger on a replay is understandable for grinding for Red but for any other purpose, it’s just too low.

I love fighting Lance, Blue and Red in this game. It’s so much fun (minus the grind for Red)
