Oh man Titanfall 2 is excellent. Respawn knocked the gameplay outta the park with this one. FPS campaigns don't really have great plots or characters and this one isn't an exception to that but aside from that, you have amazing gunplay, cool and heavy hitting mechs AND satisfying, well crafted wallrunning with a double jump to make things all the better. It's short and sweet, some generic filler shit is happening at all times.

Since the game is short, it has to do something to be memorable and it has great levels to do that. Sideways town and the time travelling mission are so much fun. They don't overstay their welcome and have enough intrigue in the surroundings to stop the player from saying "when will this be over?" (hal life 1 - train sequence). Oh and the boss fights are super cool, especially Viper's fight.

I played this on a smooth 1440 ultrawice and man it's beautiful. The game is so so gorgeous and never looks dull. Think there could be a few additions like dynamic weather maybe but otherwise, stunning. All in all, very happy with this one. Doesn't beat Doom at all but TF2 is one of the best FPS campaigns I've played to date for sure.

I love Fallout as a series and a franchise but had never really gotten into New Vegas that much before. More into the lore and story than the gameplay to be honest. That's where I have a big issue with this game. The gameplay. Gunplay is terrible and inaccurate, most weapons feel like crap, even later weapons. RPG mechanics are okay at best, it really isn't THAT RPG that many FNV d-riders will rave on about.

There is a few great saving graces here though which is the excellent politics of the Wasteland. Different factions with different agendas where no one really feels "truly good" or "truly bad". You can say the Legion is an evil - kill all for no reason - faction but the way I see it is they provide a safety with a large arsenal and army with protection within the Wasteland. They are cruel and quite stupid but what they're doing can be seen as beneficial for the majority. Dialogue in this game is fun and interesting at times, and talking really feels like you are trying to get information unlike other games where it just feels like a chore.

I'm abandoning however at this point where even after installing many anti-crash mods, the game is super unstable and the community says "welp ¯\(ツ)/¯ that's Fallout for you!" as if that's supposed to excuse how poor the game can really be. It crashes constantly and has other bugs that are worse than vanilla Fallout 4's. Why F4 as a comparison? The fanbase sure loves to hate on it when in my experience, the game "just worked" haha. They also like to say "mods can fix that particular issue" but like you're saying the vanilla game without any extra help is still good then lol??

While I'm a fan of the Fallout series, I've struggled to fully embrace New Vegas. It's disappointing to see such issues persist, especially compared to the SOMEHOW smoother experience of Fallout 4. It just isn't for me I'm afraid. This would be a better film or tv show because no one should have to slog through this mess.

Shoutout Mr House and YIPPIEEE YAAAAYYYY JINGLE JANGLEEE.

it’s clear why this game was so good on release. there was nothing quite like it and it definitely pushed the genre and the industry forward. the narrative is told entirely through people and no cutscenes which is honestly really impressive. i do wish there was more explanations on what is going on however. the gunplay is fun and immersive, especially for 1998. it’s surprising how much you don’t want to put down a gun in half-life. it’s also a really good early stage of advanced enemy ai. you get to see reactive enemies with interesting behavioural and somewhat random patterns.

unfortunately, the game hasn’t aged all that well and the last couple missions are actually where it’s noticeable how outdated the game is. the levels are confusing messes and is just endless hordes of aliens. the final boss is also a very unsatisfying fight. you’re constantly dying just because you’re getting shot at non stop and are needed to move constantly. i wouldn’t replay half-life but i definitely appreciate it existing.
