Conflicted on this one. I love the crayon look to the visuals. The combo of copy abilities and animal friends feels way better here than in Dream Land 2. The level design is also more interesting, and I actually felt inclined to collect all the heart stars and get the true ending. The problem was I needed to have a walkthrough open the entire time to do that, and it was still extremely tedious at times. I’m glad I decided to play this on Switch instead of getting the original cart (price notwithstanding) because using save states is the only way I got through this without tearing my hair out. Despite all that, I think I liked it overall?
