Ryu Ga Gotoku Games Ranked

MY personal preference babeyyy

hi i just love making lists

it got a point to make. it got a cast of lovable characters. it got a beautiful new hub location. it got the music. it got the boss battles. it got the graphics. it got the story, it got the emotion, it got the addictive minigames, and the story and theming are so good that yakuza 7 is all the way up here
this game has good everything: music is memorable, plenty of fun minigames, every character is someone you care about, the story is well paced and emotional, combat is smooth and fun as hell, and the setting is almost nostalgic even though i wasn't even around in 1988. what a warm homely game in the best way possible
this is one that'll have to grow on me a little more. i love the final boss the more i think about it though storywise i don't like it as much as 7's. however everything else is amazing and honolulu is the best rgg map yet. music is good as ever and chitose and yamai are standout new characters
HOOOO boy this was a ride...this has the most nuance out of any of the RGG games so far and you could probably write entire papers about the struggles of the game. the music is fire, ijincho is a breath of fresh air now you have a skateboard, combat is at its peak, and school stories means some of the best minigames in the series
the PERFECT length, wonderful cast, and the combat is better than ever. a better yakuza 6 than yakuza 6 was
bloated as hell but it has so much of everything and the theming comes together so very nicely in the finale. combat is so much better than in 5, and while kiryu's section is the best, it gave us the beautiful nagasugai. combat and the minigames are at their peak here, at least till lost judgment, and despite kiryu being depressed af this also has a warm uplifting tone by the end, and characterisation is so interesting
LOVED the noir tone this took as well as the detective elements; gameplay is akiyama on speed basically and the story was REALLY good
the remake did 2 so much justice - music is so much better, everything looks gorgeous, dragon engine fixes a lot of 6's combat flaws, and the majima saga is SO good. the whole game has this slightly mysterious tone to it as a result of all the remake changes but also even a remake can't save the stupid ass finale
combat is slow af due to enemies blocking and bosses are painful till chapter 5, but this is where characters get memorable, okinawa is really fun to explore, there's plenty of memes out of this game and the whole game has this sweet, warm tone to it that's just uplifting. it's from before kiryu just Gives Up
honestly i loved onomichi, the substories are great, the music is wonderful, i liked the story and the bosses are memorable, but combat is sluggish and characterisation is awful imo and given it's the focus of the story, it hangs like a dark cloud over this game and really gives this game an unsettling tone for me and not in a good way
it has ambition but it really drags - it has slow startup four times over, encounter rate is way high, and plot is not great once again. characters are a bit better and combat is a lot better than in 3 but saejima and tanimura's combat is not fun
i'm sorry but it's held back by the original game it remakes - the plot is not good and constantly sends you on wild goose chases, majima everywhere grates if you're not in the mood (i like it most of the time though), dragon style is useless till the end, and i just do not care for most of the characters
