my inclination when faced with writing about this thing is to shovel hyperlinks of images, gifs, and cutscenes into a giant mound and call it a day. I can't think of a more brevitous or appropriate solution to the impossible problem of translating its astonishing presentation into words, and if that doesn't convince folks nothing will. they are men and women of unflinching granite; golems or homunculi or some unfeeling other. it is not my problem if they remain unphased by true beauty, they can blame themselves or god

in a medium where Best Looking discussions often come down to how many pores you can see on a gruff white dude's nose or how many subdermal triangles he has beneath it, this shit is transcendent; one of those reminders like okami or killer7 that going for SSS style ranks is what it's all about. I don't care about horse testicles shrinking in cold weather, I don't care about HairWorks, I don't care about RTX bullshit — I want this

I want goofy minigames, I want somber paintings, I want cute chibi spritework, and seedy VHS filters. this thing looks amazing, and not a single menu, loading screen, animation, or scene transition shows its face without some unique detail or stylistic divergence. there are AMV interludes, buddy — everyone else needs to pack it up and hit the showers, it's OVER

rarely are visuals this striking leveraged with this much grace and consideration; rarely do aesthetics slither and shapeshift so confidently in aid of such varied goals and tones. that it looks incredible is one thing, but that it's elevated so substantially by its employment is another thing entirely. it takes great pains to bring a work that's equal parts German Folk Horror, Lesbian Dating Sim, Resource Management Plate Spinner, and RPG Maker Adventure to life, and it does so to fabulous results

a fable of desire and longing fittingly made as sumptuous as possible

it's so wonderful. I was really happy when I saw your review cos it feels like it's going a bit under the radar and I'd love if it got the attention it deserves

I'm also really worried it'll be underloved! I've been sending it in every Discord server I'm in just to get the word out there. I cannot say I have played anything like it, and as you state in your review, it just brings me back to the most fundamental joy of what makes games feel so great as an experience. It is stunning visually and sounds wonderful. No degree of graphical fidelity can outpace the visible smile I wore throughout much of it. I desperately want to write more on it but am waiting and sitting on it for a bit. Really hope the word gets around. It needs LOVE!!!

I'll admit, for a while I was turned off from this since people I've been following really emphasized the "retro anime" (read: specifically Sailor Moon) look that made me instictively react negatively. It wasn't until like, a few days ago where I learned it had a lot more going on than its surfaces, so I'll have to give it a look soon.

mhm, I've been doing my best to win people over as best I can too. it's the kind of game I feel giddy thinking and talking about and after finishing it I knew right away I wanted to get something out there vouching for it as soon as I could

definitely need lots and lots of love, and I'm gonna keep pestering everyone until it gets it

@blazingwaters
the retro anime look is really beautiful, but what strikes me the most is how varied its aesthetic can be, and how it shifts and snakes around depending on what it's trying to convey and how it wants to convey it. it's hard to describe without seeing it all play out, especially in context and in motion, but it's much, much more than something paying homage to 90s stuff, and it leverages that material to really interesting and surprising ends

Literally same! I played it 10 hours straight yesterday and finished it feeling (unironically) dizzy when a deep, guttural responsibility to get the word out there as soon as possible came over me. I haven't stopped thinking about it all day; the more it rests on my mind, the more I love it.

I'll be right there in the trenches with you fighting for this thing -salute-

@momoka
I did too. every time I was gonna walk away I found a way to convince myself "just a little more" and next thing I know it was real late and I had finished it. seems like it's gonna be on my mind for quite a while. glad you're fighting the good fight with me :)

@moschidae
I feel you (doesn't feel her at all)
